As a gamer, and like with any other hobby and passion, there is always a seemingly endless list of things to play. The last couple of years have been cracking for gamers, with title after title offering us hours of playing time. However, this year and 2017 are shaping up to also be incredible and my list of games to play is getting longer by the second. So here are –

6 Titles I'm Looking Forward To Getting Stuck Into

Horizon Zero Dawn

I am by no means the only one excited about Guerrilla's upcoming title. There have been delays, we were originally expecting the game this year but now have to wait until 2017, however this doesn't bother me in the least. It looks like an incredible game in terms of both its looks and content. The glimpse of gameplay we were treated to at this years E3 Sony conference cemented my thoughts. As a long time fan of RPGs and open world games this really peaked my interest from the start. What I'm looking forward to most is discovering what happened to those before and how the machines ended up taking over. Getting to know a little more about the protagonist, Aloy, and how she fits in the world will be a huge part of the adventure as well.

The Last Guardian

It has been a long road, and a long wait, for this game. The Last Guardian is a title which has been promised to us for many years and finally our wait is over. In October we will be able to see what the developers have managed to come up with. I was worried when it all went a bit quiet last year, I thought we might have to wait even longer, but true to their word the game is being delivered. It looks lovely and it is clear that time and love has been poured into it. My concern, like many other games these days, that it might not be able to live up the massive amount of hype around it. Fans have been waiting for this for nearly 10 years, that is a long time, and I really hope it lives up to everyone's expectations. If it does we will forget about how long it took to get the game and we will be able to play it and relive the journey for years to come.

Cuphead

Still with the mysterious release of 2016, this game hasn't been given a solid date. Which is a massive shame because there are loads of people waiting for this title. Cuphead promises to be something different. The 30's style is one thing, but also a return to a classic platform gameplay gives us a break from all the open world shooters and RPGs we are flooded with (not that there is anything wrong with those). The only downside is that it will be an Xbox exclusive so those with only a PS4 will miss out on this beautiful game.

Skyrim Remastered

After recently trading in all my games and PS3 console including my copy of Skyrim, which has several hours sunk into I might add, I was so thrilled to hear that Bethesda are releasing a remastered edition of the game. I know they are known for their glitches, in fact there were times when the game froze my whole console, but you know what? I don't care. I loved this game and can't wait to get stuck into it again in all its HD, remastered glory. Also, I get the bonus of having the DLC packs thrown in as well. Merry Christmas to me!

Crash Remastered

I'm not sure I have to say much about this one. It's Crash Bandicoot. I just hope I get my Spyro remaster after this.

Gears of War 4

This is a franchise close to my heart and I have fond memories of playing it with friends. Also, how many other games let you chainsaw someone in the face? Anyway, when this game was first announced I was excited and the trailers and teasers that followed just got me wanting more. The fact that it is going to be set over 24 hours, for me, is really clever. They were never long games to start off with, and having this time limit will help to focus the game on the story and push it forward. I also like that, although one of the main trio is related to Marcus Fenix, the older characters possibly won't be an integral part of the game, it will be geared towards the new generation. The only thing is that I hope it doesn't end up being game which has been done just because it can. Sequels for sequels sake really grind my gears (pun totally intended).

Which upcoming titles are you most excited about?
