Even if you don't play it, by now you've surely heard of the new phenomenon that is Pokemon Go.

The augmented reality app has been talked about on the television, on the radio, and on the internet. The game itself is currently live across 27 countries; Nintendo stock is going through the roof, and the game has been downloaded a whopping 10,000,000 times since its release.

The game, which gets people out and about searching the real world for Pokemon, has also lead to the discovery of three dead bodies, people getting robbed and people suffering injuries.

On the upside, people are going outside, socialising and meeting tons of new people, especially considering most cities are now setting up Pokemon get-togethers and businesses are also getting in on the action using lures to get people in their doors.

Now someone has taken their love of Pokemon and turned it into their job! A New Zealand man, by the name of Tom Currie, has quit his current job and will now travel to literally catch 'em all!

The 24-year-old will travel around hunting for all 151 Pokemon within the popular game and explains his reasons for his new quest as well as discussing his time in Sumner, Christchurch.

“I wanted to have an adventure. I have been working for six years and I was desperate for a break. And Pokémon gave me the chance to live that dream.”
“I think the most exciting experience so far was in Sumner, Christchurch, which has become a hot spot for Pokémon hunters. There were about 100 people there hunting. And some of these people would usually be shut up at home and really reclusive. Hunting for Pokémon is bringing them into the real world. It was such a buzzy atmosphere, when someone spotted a rare Pokémon they would shout out to alert the crowd.”

While Tom's new job doesn't pay, he has had some transportation companies offering to give him lifts to some areas, but here comes the most important thing: What does his mother think?

“Tom is a very spur-of-the-moment, independent kid, he always has been. His nana and I don’t understand the game but I remember him loving it in his childhood. I am just glad he is out enjoying his life and seeing so much of New Zealand. I back him 100%."

Currently, Tom has caught 90 of the 151 available Pokemon! (Makes my 48 look pitiful!)

With all this talk of Pokemon, keep your eyes open for tricks, tips (including how to get Incense For Free!) and news - including the possibility of a live-action movie!
