Pokémon GO is hotter than a grilled cheese sandwich right now and has certainly enraptured the global gaming scene. The augmented reality game has already caused quite a stir, with players all across the world doing the craziest of things in pursuit of their favourite Pokémon.
Here is a list of some of the most bizarre, kooky and messed up things that people have done, so far, catching Pokémon on Pokémon GO.
8. That time a group of teens were lost in an underground mine
Teens in England found themselves feeling rather foolish when they ventured into an old abandoned mine looking for Pokémon. The BBC reports that the teens went down into the mine system whilst searching for rare Pokémon on Pokémon GO.
The group had failed to make note of the direction or path they had taken on their way in. The ill fated Pokémon hunt resulted in search and rescue teams being scrambled to aid in their rescue. Needless to say, the group caught nothing but a grounding.
7. That time a woman found a dead body
Up and coming Pokémon GO trainer, Shayla Wiggins from Wyoming made a gruesome discovery whilst looking for new water based Pokémon to add to her collection. The 19 year old received the shock of her life when instead of a Pokémon she stumbled upon a dead body floating in the water.
6. That time a woman got stuck in a tree in a cemetery
A woman from New Jersey was found, by police, stuck in a tree in the middle of a cemetery. Apparently the woman had been hunting for Pokémon in the cemetery and believed that there was one hiding up in the tree. Unable to get back down from the tree, the woman was forced to call 911 for help.
I hope she caught whatever Pokémon it was she was looking for; maybe she was looking for that fabled, ‘foolinatree’ Pokémon?
5. That time a Pokémon GO player crashed into a police car
Its driving 101, don’t use your cell phone whilst driving, let alone play Pokémon GO whilst driving – I mean, that shit is just common sense – you’d think anyway.
A man from Baltimore was caught on camera slamming his SUV into the back of a parked police car. The driver, who had smashed into the cop car, immediately apologized and stated that that it was because he was playing Pokémon GO whilst driving. Doh!
4. That time pokestop lures were used as bait
A string of robberies have been attributed to Pokémon GO as players were lured to secluded pokestop by poke-bandits. These real world thugs were baiting secluded pokestops with lures in the dead of night and ambushing unsuspecting Pokémon GO players as they arrived. The group of degenerates were later caught and charged for their despicable acts.
3. That time Pokémon GO player walked off a cliff
Smartphones alone can be distracting and Pokémon GO is a distraction and a half. But is it so distracting that you would fail to notice that the ground you are walking on isn’t there anymore?
These trainers from Encinitas, California found out just how distracting Pokémon GO can be when they inadvertently walked off a 75 foot cliff. According to reports the pair was so engrossed in the hunt for Pokémon that they failed to notice the cliff. Both players were lucky to survive, receiving minor injuries.
2. That time a guy caught a Pokémon whilst his wife gave birth
The player thought that he would make the best moment of his adult life that much sweeter by capturing a Pidgey at the same time as his wife was giving birth. Really? I mean, it’s a Pidgey, maybe if it was a Snorlax or something I would see the logic.
1. That time a player went hunting at a funeral
There’s a time and a place, surely? Yup, these guys are all playing Pokémon GO at funerals.
