Overwatch dropped a surprise on players this week with its first seasonal event: the Summer Games.
To celebrate the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Overwatch is rolling out a limited edition Summer Loot Box with over 100 new items. From Aug 2-22 players can get these loot boxes from leveling and one free one just from logging in, but you can't buy one with credits, strangely enough.
After the seasonal event is over, the Summer Loot Boxes are going in the vault and won't be available.
So what's in these bad boys? Olympic themed skins, sprays, emotes, voice lines, highlight intros, player icons, and victory poses. Every loot box is guaranteed to have at least one summer item in it.
I can't decide which one is the best. Soldier 76 as golfer dad or Tjorborn's Swedish codpiece.
Luciobowl is the best brawl
The weekly brawl is familiar to anyone who's ever played Rocket League. It's a 3v3 where every player is Lucio, but the map is a soccer field and your goal is, well, to score a goooooooooooooooooooooooooooal!
Your team has 4 minutes to score as many goals as possible while the other three Lucios are trying to do the same. Well, two of them are while one is playing goalie.
Lucio's abilities are modified so left click punches the ball, right click shoots it down the field with his gun, E amps his run speed and his ultimate pulls the ball towards him. Other than that he can still run along walls though he can get across the field fast by jumping on the glowing bounce pads on the field.
Lucioball tips & tricks
This is one of the those games that is simple to understand, but hard to master. A few pro tips:
- Use your E speed boost immediately to get to the ball fast after the opening countdown finishes.
- Stand in your opponents goal and use your ultimate to pull the ball towards you into the goal. Instant score.
- Don't chase the ball. If it's heading towards your goal, chances are good your goalie is going to blast back down the the field. Be ready to for that.
This is first of many Seasonal Events to come and they've really done a great job with this one. There's already a petition on Reddit to make Lucioball a permanent game mode.
