"Here she goes again with another fan art article..." - Unknown
Yes, I am back, finally and I have been browsing the internet again looking for more fantastic art pieces and let me tell ya, I have found something pretty eye gouging.
For this top 12, I've decided to go with a Pokemon theme. Pokemon has been a big talk in all media this past couple of months causing controversy, confusion, anger and happiness. Unfortunately I cannot play the game in my area but I would have been throwing balls left right and center if I could.
With all that being said, I came across these drawings by David Szilagyi. His collection of Creepy Pokemon really put a sparkle in my eye and shivers down my spine. If you are a horror fanatic and a Pokemon lover you will really appreciate the work this gentleman has brought to surface.
David is a AAA freelance concept artist and illustrator. He calls his artwork Nightmare Fuel, stating that one of his favorite artist is Stephen Gammell (Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark) He was raised on Pokemon, Zelda, Mario and all of the other classics (as well as the majority of us) and decided to ruin our childhood favorites "one horrific image at a time!"
Let's get started...
Charizard was always a lover for me and David has really taken the life out of him by creating this chilling look. I love it!
Our cute little Bulbasaur seems to have taken a new path in this drawing. His jaw filled with sharp teeth and that crazy look in his eye really set off the whole Nightmare look.
Although Golbat isn't one of my favorite Pokemon, this version really gives me the creeps. The idea of him hovering in the dark, stalking me keeps me on my toes. Can you imagine walking at night, lights flickering and this guy swooping down and grabbing you between it's bony finger-like claws?
Oh Jigglypuff, my angry artist. Even though she is missing her marker, the eyes are soul eating!
Nidoking is showing of his crown of thorns here in this sketch. May I point out scattered failed trainers in the background? No one will ever capture this King!
Ninetails was one of my favorite Pokemon as well. The flawless movement of those tails really mesmerized me as a child. After looking at this drawing, I'm more drawn to the face.
Vulpix is enjoying a meal here in this sketch. From cute and innocent to demonic and fearless, she really stands her ground!
Wigglytuff is beastly here! With a big upper body, he must wiggle his way to prey. I can picture those claws ripping people to threads already.
I really think Caterpie has improved from the original in this piece. I am loving the hand. I never thought a cute little bug could become something so terrifying!
Pikachu was my favorite Pokemon. I had stickers, pillowcases, blankets, posters, toys, etc! As a kid I loved the bright yellow this guy had and now I am even more in love with this demonic looking sketch. "Let me have a peek-at-you"
Ever since I was attacked by an angry Sparrow Hawk, I grew a slight fear of birds. Pigeot was so cute to me as a child, however I am more interested in this bad boy here! Can you picture walking and this swooping down and devouring your soul? It wouldn't take me long to run and hide that's for sure!
I love snakes and Arbok was another favorite of mine as well. Yes I have a lot of favorites, don't we all?! I can see it just slithering about, eating everything in it's path.
David has a lot more on a variety of social media places and I really hope you check them out! His work is awesome, and creepy! I can see these creatures in their own little comic series, Twisted Pokemon style and all!
David, if you are reading this I am a huge fan of your art and wish you all the best in your future endeavors, may you scare the crap out of everyone!
