With Pokemon Go still proving to be popular (and with updates to the game expected by the end of the year) and the imminent release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, suffice it to say that Pokemon is huge right now. These two major new additions to the franchise have made Pokemon one hot topic. Pokemon Sun and Moon is set to expand on the already 721 existing Pokemon, some of which have already been revealed. Recently we looked at 10 of the strangest Pokemon to exist-now let us take a look at 10 Pokemon that are worthy of a pre- or post- evolution added to their already existing line.

10. Shuckle - Type: Bug/Rock

Shuckle is a Pokemon that is easily forgotten by many players. Apart from having generally good defense stats, for a bug type, it is pretty weak and extremely slow. Shuckle could easily benefit from a new evolution to turn it into a much stronger addition to any team. With it also being a relatively small Pokemon, it does seem like it is meant to evolve into something bigger and better.

9. Stantler - Type: Normal

Stantler is you average Pokemon and, with a good attack pool, can be helpful on your team. However, Stantler could benefit from both a pre-evolution and post-evolution. The pre-evolution would obviously reflect that of a fawn, but the post-evolution Pokemon should obtain a dark type attribute to make it normal/dark. This would allow them to make its antler look more imposing and dangerous.

8. Solrock/Lunatone - Type: Rock/Psychic

This rock/psychic duo would appear to be linked, given how one is based on the sun and the other on the moon. However, apart from being the same types, the pair aren't currently linked. With Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon both utilizing the themes behind this pair's designs, perhaps it is time for a "Meteobble" (based on a meteorite) which is a pre-evolution for the pair. Then, evolving it during the day would result in a Solrock, and by night it could evolve into Lunatone.

7. Druddigon - Type: Dragon

Druddigon is a Pokemon that you would think has evolved from something smaller, but it is in fact a Pokemon that does not evolve at all. With its stats being pretty good and it being a pure dragon type (which is rare in the games), it seems as if a pre-evolution for it wouldn't hurt.

6. Tauros/Miltank - Type: Normal

Much like Lunatone and Solrock, this pair have always felt like they should have a pre-evolution to link them. However, this time it would be based on the gender of a 'calf' Pokemon when it evolved. Tauros are always male and Miltank are always female. This alone suggests the pair are the male and female counterparts of the same Pokemon.

5. Heracross - Type: Bug/Fighting

Heracross was one of the lucky Pokemon to receive a mega evolution in the last generation of the games. But, Heracross is a large bug type Pokemon, and simply needs a pre-evolution added to it. It has always been a popular Pokemon by players, due to it's bug type cancelling the weakness a fighting type has to psychic types. A pre-evolution could easily be a pure bug type to allow it to evolve into the powerhouse Heracross for the player to use.

4. Girafarig - Type: Normal/Psychic

Girafarig is a Pokemon that has been forgotten by the games and the anime, so a pre-and post-evolution could perhaps give this Pokemon new life. A pre-evolution could be a pure normal type, but then it could mark Pokemon history with its post-evolution. The post-evolution should be psychic/dark, because of the darker design of the back half of Girafarig. This would mark the first Pokemon to completely change its types from it's original form.

3. Tropius - Type: Grass/Flying

Another Pokemon that is normally forgotten about is Tropius. Tropius has many positives ,as it is a powerful grass/flying type. However, due to its sheer size, you can not help but feel a pre-evolution is required. A smaller pure grass type- which gains the flying type during evolution- would probably be the better option here. Also, given the region design for Sun & Moon being based off of Hawaii, it is a perfect time to reintroduce everyone's favorite fruit-baring Pokemon, Tropius.

2. Rapidash - Type: Fire

Rapidash has already got a pre-evolution of Ponyta, but given that it appears to be a flaming unicorn, is it time for a post-evolution making it a flaming winged unicorn? With Pokemon Sun & Moon adding the Pokemon Mudbury and its evolution Mudsdale, (who are horse-like Pokemon and ground types), we could see more horse-like Pokemon in the Alola region.

1. Lapras - Type: Water/Ice

Lapras has always been a popular Pokemon among the fans, mainly due to it being a powerful Pokemon to have in battle. However, it is a generation-one Pokemon that has seen little attention over the years. With Pokemon Sun & Moon showing the player riding on the back of a Lapras in recent footage, perhaps we are about to see a pre-evolution for this fan-favorite Pokemon.

What Pokemon do you think deserve a pre or post evolution?

With over 721 Pokemon to choose from, choosing only 10 Pokemon to feature in a list like this is no mean feat. BBut the anime and games neglect all of these Pokemon, and have yet to showcase their full potential. Typically, Pokemon that do not evolve are not often used by players. Why? The answer is simply because, the fun in the games is leveling up and evolving your Pokemon as you play. These Pokemon all deserve a revisit by the Pokemon design team and allowed their chances to shine at last.
