With the release of Dishonored 2 on the horizon, it seems it would be a great dishonor (i’m hilarious) to both you, Bethesda and Arkane Studios to not finish the DLC of the first Dishonored. Let me explain.

Creative Director of Dishonored and Dishonored 2, Harvey Smith, has stated that the two additional DLC pieces of the original game, Brigmore Witches and The Knife of Dunwall, add a lot more to the game in a beneficial way. The developers better understood the noir world that they had created and, in many ways, were able to manipulate it to a higher degree in order to deliver a great story.

More Dishonored 2 content:

It was also stated that the DLC acts as bridging content between both games, which may be necessary considering that the events of Dishonored and Dishonored 2 are set approximately 15 years apart. In this regard, fans, both new and old will not be left out to dry in a confusing, corrupt world.

Short overviews (to prevent spoilers) of the DLC's available are down below.

Knife of Dunwall

Knife of Dunwall

The Knife of Dunwall serves to broaden the perspective of the player by playing as the main assassin and killer of Empress Jessamine, known as Daud. This DLC follows his quest for redemption while he utilizes key abilities bestowed to him by the Outsider (very passive aggressive for a supernatural being) while he seeks out information on an individual by the name of Delilah.

Brigmore Witches

Now, the Brigmore Witches is the second part of the Dishonored DLC set involving Daud and concludes his adventures in Wonderland -sorry wrong story – Dunwall. Within this narrative, he has incurred the ire of Delilah Copperspoon, who happens to be a dangerous witch. Later, he seeks to disrupt a specialized ritual that could spell disaster for, well everyone.

I highly recommend tackling these two DLC adventures as they contain everything you could want, from an expansion of the history of this unique world to amazing action and fighting and heart pattering stealth. Plus there are new and improved powers. The Outsider is there, he isn’t just going to give you a cookie.

Delilah

Onto this psychopath. While the DLC follows Delilah’s story, through Daud, it seems she may have more significance into the universe as a whole as opposed to just a brief starring role in the side storylines. Within the Dishonored 2 trailers, we are told that Emily Kaldwin’s throne has been taken by an otherwordly usurper and since Delilah is notorious for her ‘witchiness’, she could be considered otherwordly by nature of her powers. Returning to the statement made by Harvey Smith, he told Gamesradar (careful minor spoilers) that the DLC story was not only a bridge to new content but also presented women in more ‘interesting’ roles.

Taking that to heart, if you view the below picture of the Dishonored 2 Collectors Edition, you can see a propaganda poster exclaiming, “All Hail The New Empress! Her Majesty, Delilah Kaldwin”. Seeing as how there is no character by the name of Delilah Kaldwin, it is fair to say that the same Delilah who you pursue in the Dishonored DLC is the very same throne usurper and antagonist in Dishonored 2. This will undoubtedly connect both games and provide a degree of continuity.
