Overwatch is one of the best games to come out this year, and one of the most successful hero shooters of all time! When Overwatch was released across the globe in May of this year, no one could have guessed how successful it would become.

Part of the reason why Overwatch is so popular is because of its diverse cast of heroes and villains. From Tracer, to Widowmaker, to everyone's (least) favorite bot Bastion, the characters of Overwatch have all gained a large fanbase!

But as much as we love the characters, have you ever taken a look at the people behind them? The voice actors behind some of the coolest Overwatch characters have pretty amazing careers beyond the game. Here are six Overwatch voice actors and their surprising other roles!

1. Keith Silverstein

Overwatch players may know Keith Silverstein as the voice of Torbjorn, the small but powerful expert mechanic from Sweden. But Silverstein has lent his voice to more than just sentry building dwarves!

Keith Silverstein has voiced Vector the Crocodile in Sonic Generations and all the main titles in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games franchise. He's also voiced Kimimaro, one of my favorite villains in one of my favorite anime: Naruto!

Overwatch isn't Silverstein's first time working with Blizzard either. He voices the human mage Rhonin in World of Warcraft, the soldier Marcus Cade in Starcraft II, and Shen in League of Legends!

But none of those roles are even Silverstein's most surprising. His most shocking role would have to be Gantu in the Lilo and Stitch anime spin-off series, Stitch!.

That's right — Keith Silverstein voiced that weird whale-alien in an anime based on Lilo and Stitch. Remember that next time you hear Torbjorn yell "Molten Core!", and you won't be able to take him seriously.

Darin De Paul

Darin De Paul is the voice of Overwatch's powerful crusader, Reinhardt. With his helpful shield and his lethal hammer, Reinhardt is a great ally and an even greater opponent on the battlefield!

Besides voicing Reinhardt, De Paul also lends his voice talents to other Blizzard characters, such as Grobbulus and Death Knight in Hearthstone, Anub'arak in Heroes of the Storm, and Blackhand the Destroyer in World of Warcraft! Given his nickname, it's safe to assume that Blackhand is not very similar to Reinhardt.

Besides working with Blizzard, Darin De Paul has also voiced Judge Dredd in the miniseries Judge Dredd: Superfiend, Samuel Hayden in Doom (2016), and Emperor Valkorion in Star Wars: The Old Republic - Knights of the Fallen Empire. His latest role sees him as Ardyn Izunia in the animated film, Kingslaive: Final Fantasy XV!

Fred Tatasciore

Soldier: 76 is probably the most "normal" hero in Overwatch. He's not a super-genius gorilla, or an actual reaper of souls; he's just a soldier who's really good at his job. He shares this dedication to his line of work with his voice actor, Fred Tatasciore!

If that name sounds familiar to you, that wouldn't surprise me. It took a while going through Tatasciore's 500+ VO credits to find the ones worth talking about — especially since a lot of his credits are absolutely worth talking about!

Fred Tatasciore has voiced the Incredible Hulk himself in the Marvel animated series Avengers Assemble, Hulk Agents of S.M.A.S.H, and Ultimate Spider-Man, as well as villains Crossbones and Carnage in the latter series. He also voiced Rocksteady, the anthropomorphic Rhino villain in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series.

Tatasciore is known for voicing quite a lot of DC characters as well, most of them villains. He voiced Killer Croc in DC Superhero Girls, Solomon Grundy in Batman Unlimited, and lent his voice to Croc, Grundy, and Black Adam for Lego Batman 3!

Besides voicing supervillains, Fred Tatasciore also voices J. Jonah Jameson, Spider-Man's boss/side-antagonist, in the video game adaption of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This means that JJJ and Soldier: 76 share a voice. If that doesn't make you do a mental double take, I don't know what will.

Keith Ferguson

Keith Ferguson voices Reaper, Overwatch's stoic and deadly collector of souls. Due to multiple experiments (Mercy must have had a bad day), Gabriel Reyes has become less than human now, using his almost supernatural abilities to frighten and kill his opponents.

Because he plays such a serious character in Overwatch, you'd imagine that Keith Ferguson's other voice roles are pretty similar, right? Well, you'd be wrong. Among his many film credits, you'll find familiar names such as Lord Hater from Wander Over Yonder, Deputy Durland from Gravity Falls, and Blooregard Q. Kazoo (his friends call him Bloo) from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends!

Ferguson also has a pretty cool connection to The Lego Movie. In the film, he voices Han Solo (that one guy from that Trek Wars movie or whatever). But in the game, he actually voices the main character; Emmet Brickowski! I guess Chris Pratt was too busy being Chris Pratt to return for the game.

None of these are roles you'd expect to belong to the same guy who, in a very raspy voice, yells "Die, Die, DIE!" at his enemies, but that's not even the weirdest of it. Keith Ferguson, the same man who voices Reaper, also voices...King Julien...from a YouTube animated stand-up series.

This a real, actual thing that exists in the world. When you're done bingeing that series (because why would you not?!), make sure to come back and read the rest of this article. There are still some surprises left!

Cara Theobold

Admittedly, Cara Theobold —the voice of Overwatch's speedy shooter — doesn't have as many acting credits as the others on this list. But the reason I included her is because she's actually a part of two really popular British shows.

The first is The Syndicate, a British drama series about lottery winners that has been showing since 2012. Each season changes cast members, and Cara Theobold portrayed Sarah Travers in last year's season. Fun fact: the first season featured Matthew Lewis, otherwise known as Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter film series!

Theobold also appeared in a popular drama by the name of Downton Abbey. Back in September of 2010, Downton Abbey took the world by storm, lasting for five years and leaving an extremely large and dedicated fanbase.

If you're one of the show's many fans, and you happen to play Overwatch, then you may think that Tracer's voice is a little familiar. That's probably because Cara Theobold actually portrayed Ivy Stuart in Downton Abbey! Check out Cara/Ivy in action below:

Matthew Mercer

Finally, we've got Matthew Mercer, the voice of Overwatch's sharp-shooting cowboy, McCree! Like a lot of the names on this list, Mercer has a long and eccentric career as voice actor.

Besides voicing the calm-under-pressure McCree, Matthew Mercer has also voiced Leon S. Kennedy in most of the Resident Evil games, Pain in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, and Levi in Attack on Titan. Levi is another calm and collected guy (unless you're talking about cleaning) with an affinity for capes.

Matthew Mercer also tried his hand at the superhero gig in Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher, and Iron Man: Rise of Technovore. In both films, he voiced Iron Man himself, Tony Stark! Though he wasn't as good as Robery Downey Jnr. (because no one can be), Mercer did a pretty good job voicing the Marvel hero.

He also voiced the villain Anarky in Batman: Arkham Origins, before going on to voice Robin, Batman's faithful sidekick, in Arkham Knight.

Finally, Matthew Mercer voiced the main character in what is honestly the weirdest anime ever made; JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

It may sound odd, but it honestly makes sense for Matthew Mercer to voice Jotaro Kujo. Despite JoJo's Bizarre Adventure being a downright insane anime, Jotaro is a bit of cool, outlaw type with —wouldn't you know it — a love for cape-like clothing. Right up Mercer's alley!

As you can see, the voices behind some of Overwatch's greatest characters are extremely good at their jobs. It was shocking to see just how many other famous and recognizable characters they've lent their voices to!

I know I won't be able to hear Reaper's voice without thinking of Bloo, or Tracer's without being reminded that I really need to watch Downton Abbey already!

Thank For Reading! Which Overwatch voice actor's other roles surprised you the most?
