Batman has had his awesome string of games by Rocksteady and now it looks like Spider-Man will be getting his own epic video game from Insomniac. I think it’s about time someone makes a truly epic Superman game. I’m fed up of people saying that he’s too powerful to be in a game or that his powers don’t suit a game, because honestly, Superman is PERFECT for a video game. It'll just take the right love and care from the right studio to give us comic book fans the game we want.

I’m just going to make some suggestions off the top of my head right now, maybe you all can help me with more or improve mine, but some of the ones I think should be considered are:

HEALTH-TYPE GAUGE

Superman is invincible, so instead of having to keep health up which wouldn’t make sense, how about do something similar to Superman Returns and allow you to maintain Metropolis’ wellness or have a hero gauge where if you’re not doing enough heroic activities then the gauge will drop then, forcing you to restart once it drops below zero. This would obviously require a whole variety of side missions to keep things fun!

Instead of this, maybe an original story could be made where Superman has been deeply affected by Kryptonite at the beginning, then you have to gradually gain powers towards the end which would be a perfect opportunity for an upgrade system.

MAP

A Superman game needs a HUGE GIGANTIC map to allow us to fly around at high speeds without feeling small. Maybe procedural generation could be used like No Man's Sky to help with making the map big, we know the tech works for a whole universe so why not a city or whole state? Fully or semi destructible environments would be a bonus.

VILLAINS

I say just throw in every single Superman villain. Like how they did with Batman, have some villains be part of side missions and others attached to the main story. Have missions as Clark Kent where you get to investigate lesser known villains then eventually take care of them as Superman.

Missions involving villains like Lex Luthor should involve using intellect more, such as puzzle type mini games and completing tasks against a timer to challenge quick thinking skills etc.

Missions involving villains like Doomsday would involve pure fighting mechanics.

COMBAT

When fighting enemies just as strong as Superman, make the combat similar to fighting games where you string combos together using different button combinations. This type of stuff can get repetitive, so combos or power attacks should be unlocked as you progress, similar to how inFamous allowed you to unlock a new power up and use it.

COSTUMES

Allow for unlocking costumes, that’s pretty obvious.

A character like this allows for a lot of possibilities for a fun game.
