Laptops are great. Their portable nature enables all sorts of awesome activities, like playing games on the go, writing up reports on your commute or reading confidential information pertaining to the million dollar #TombRaider video game franchise on the train... wait.
Imagine this: you’re seated on the subway. It's packed, sweat-addled and the occasional randomer is screaming about the end of the world—standard. Now imagine you glance at the laptop of the person to your left when you notice something rather interesting. So interesting, in fact, that potentially hundreds of thousands of people around the world would like to catch a glimpse of what you're seeing. Would you take a picture? 'Cause this guy did.
New Tomb Raider Game Leaks Thanks To Careless Laptop User
So yeah, it appears that someone working with Square Enix was casually checking out secret documents on the underground, or possibly working on a presentation. They were unfortunate enough to be sitting next to someone who was clearly a gamer and brave enough to take a picture—well done, sir.
It's a little blurry, but the name of the follow up to Rise of the Tomb Raider appears to be Shadow of the Tomb Raider, according to this document. The redditor who uploaded the image to reddit stated the following when asked about it by Polygon:
“I was looking at my phone and next to me was this guy working on a powerpoint. Out of curiosity i took a look to see what he was working [on]."
“That's when I saw the logo for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I work downtown Montreal so I know that many game studios are in the area so I assumed it possibly real and was the name of the next Tomb Raider game. From where i was standing, I couldn't see much other than the page he was one talked about visual design.”
Now, the developers who brought us the reboot and Rise, Crystal Dynamics, are actually located in San Francisco. However, the much larger Eidos Montreal studio, the guys and girls who brought us Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, are in fact in Montreal—not like it's in their name or anything. According to Kotaku, reports indicate that Eidos will be heading the production of Shadow of the Tomb Raider and not Crystal Dynamics. So much info from one little picture! But are we happy about another studio taking on these games? Crystal have done Lara justice with these two titles!
In any case, the moral of the story, which is really directed at the dude with the laptop, is this: don’t be a f***ing moron and read secret documents on a crowded subway.
Leaks on a Train or Leaks on a Plane; which film would you watch?!
