For a franchise based on jacking cars and causing indiscriminate mayhem, #GTAV has some surprisingly elaborate easter eggs buried in its wide open sandbox, for those observant players that are willing to follow the clues.

Some of these mysteries are pretty gruesome. The Grand Theft Auto franchise is known for usually taking a pretty light-hearted tone when it comes to violent crime and murder, at least during regular gameplay. Having said that, there are some genuinely disturbing stories hidden here and there that hint at a darker side to Los Santos.

Like, for example, when the player takes a break from a hard day's crime to relax on an idyllic beach. Maybe take a dip?

Yes, that's just what you needed. A nice refreshing swim to ease the mind and clear the bloodstains. Why don't you come down to the beach and do this more oft-HOLY HELL IS THAT A DEAD BODY?

Youtuber Tinytroll takes a closer look

Now Tinytroll doesn't provide any context for this, so it looks like they stumbled upon this gruesome secret by accident. The corpse is clearly that of a woman, and judging by the 'cement shoes', the victim of a mafia-style execution.

Murder Mystery

When this body was first discovered, some longtime #GTA fans thought it was just a throwaway reference to the two 'concrete shoe men' that can be found in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Some speculate that the body is related to the 'Infinity 8' killer mystery (that's actually a different mystery with a higher body count, because this town is awful).

The Vice City bodies are just references to the mafia without much of a story behind them, but the lady you find sleeping with the fishes in GTA:5 is actually part of something bigger.

The clues hinting at the case of the concrete shoe woman are scratched into the walls around Los Santos. You'll need to get Michael for this, and check the following locations:

West Vinewood: Gentry Manor Hotel

Downtown Vinewood: Oriental Theatre

This is the most telling one linking to the cement shoe woman discovered in the video, of course.

The Final Chapter

The final clue can be found on the desk of Solomon Richards, but only after you've completed the Meltdown mission. If you head to the marker outside his office at Richards Majestic after 21:00. You can read the letter on his desk, that reveals the background to the woman's murder, and a dark secret hidden in a mine up in the hills. Remember to pack some explosives, you'll need them to access the abandoned mine.

There you'll find the second and final body in the murder mystery, the animator who knew too much. As a reward for hunting the easter eggs, you'll also get 2 bonus 'classic noir' filters in Sepia and Black & white, that change the look of the game. You can access them, creepily enough, by calling Isaac (the dead guy) on your phone.
