In #PokemonSunMoon, GameFreak has introduced Pokémon that evolve into legendary forms. This is the first time in #Pokemon history that this has been possible, and #3DS users are understandably eager to find out how to catch one of these rare creatures.
The secret Cosmog in Pokémon Sun and Moon is one of those Pokémon — the first stage in a series of Legendary Evolutions. After leveling, it evolves into Cosmoem and then into the Legendary Solgaleo or Lunala depending on which version of the game you have.
While it is still possible to pick up these Legendary Pokémon during the main storyline of Pokémon Sun and Moon, this guide will show you how to add the entire Cosmog evolutionary line to your Pokédex.
Note that you can only get one secret Cosmog Pokémon per copy of Pokémon Sun and Moon.
How to get a secret Cosmog in Sun and Moon
Follow these simple steps to catch Cosmog:
- First, complete the main storyline and become the champion
- Go back to the Altar of the [version you're playing] and enter the portal
- Go to the Lake of the [version you're not playing].
- Go to the top and onto the platform
- Watch the cutscene and you will be able to add Cosmog to your party / box
Note: For players of Pokémon Sun, it's Altar of the Sun and Lake of the Moon. For players of Pokémon Moon it's Altar of the Moon and Lake of the Sun.
Children of the Evolution
Cosmog isn't a particular effective fighter, but it pays off in the long run. Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem and then into Lunala (for Pokémon Moon players), or Solgaleo (for Pokémon Sun players). If you want a different one though, you can just trade with a friend who has the other version. This is a significant event in the history of the series, which, with Pokémon Sun and Moon, seems to be getting darker in some aspects, and sillier in others.
Aside from Legendaries, Pokémon Sun and Moon will have a bunch of new Pokémon, get to know them in the video below:
