After a week of teasing a big December announcement, Niantic finally dropped the news: more Pokémon!
#Niantic has confirmed Gen 2 Pokémon are here and can be hatched from eggs. So far only Togipei and Pichu have been confirmed. Niantic has said more #Jhoto Pokémon are already available, yet not confirming which, leaving players to find out on their own whom these other #Pokémon are.
Check out the announcement trailer below.
In the same statement, Niantic also said trainers can expect additional Pokémon in the coming months.
"These are the first of more Pokémon coming to Pokémon GO over the next few months. Be sure to use the hashtag #PokemonGO on Twitter to share your experiences as you explore your local neighborhoods with family and friends, walk to hatch these Pokémon from Eggs, and register them to your collection this holiday season. We can’t wait to see what Pokémon you’ve hatched!"
While maybe not as exciting the Halloween or Thanksgiving events, Niantic did announce that from now until December 29th, trainers will be able to catch a limited edition Pikachu wearing a Santa hat. Yes, the hat stays even when evolved into Raichu!
This news comes after last week's announcements of partnerships with both #Sprint and #Starbucks. Trainers can expect 10,500 Sprint locations and 7,800 Starbucks locations to be the home of new #Pokéstops and #Gyms across the country. In addition to this, select Sprint stores will be offering charging stations to trainers and Starbucks is developing a new Pokémon Go themed Frappuccino.
Is the December announcement all you were hoping for? What Gen 2 Pokémon are you hoping to hatch? Let me know in the comments!
