Pokemon D'oh? These Simpsons Themed Pokemon Cards Are the Rarest of Them All

Pop culture on the internet, exposed to the roiling, bubbling soup of humanity's creative urges and digital fever dreams, can often emerge in strange and frightening new forms. The latest abominations to arise from the ooze is an unholy merging of cartoon forms—that of the yellow-skinned, four-fingered denizens of Springfield, and the multitude of gladiator beasts of the Pokémon universe.

Behold, the Homertoise!

Homertoise - Homer Simpson as Blastoise Pokemon card

Bask in his corpulent beauty, this creation comes courtesy of London-based Etsy retailer ThumbsDesign. Embiggened by a noble spirit, this designer sells his creations as badges, stickers and snazzy-looking trading cards, complete with #TheSimpsons-inspired special moves.

Thanks to Thumbs, beleaguered pop culture journalists don't have to rack their brains coming up with puns on Simpsons-themed Pokémon moves (seriously thumbs, you're a genius). He also really has a knack for matching any Simpsons character to the appropriate Pokémon. Check out some of my favorites from this series.
