There's a new Pokémon game out in the wild, folks. Just in case you didn't know. And whilst fans of the series expected the games to sell like hot cakes, we certainly weren't expecting this number. #PokemonSunMoon has sold a mind-boggling 1,905,107 units. And it's managed to do this within its first three days on sale in Japan alone!
Three Days In, Pokémon Sun and Moon's Sales Numbers Are Breaking Records In Japan
This number makes Sun & Moon the 3DS' second biggest launch in Japan ever, nestled in behind Pokémon X & Y's 2.09m launch total. Which is also insane. And considering that the duo of games haven't even released in Europe yet and the numbers for North America are yet to come in, you can assume that number will fire through the roof, and then some.
Nintendo sure are ecstatic, and in their attempt to meet demand have delivered 10m copies to retailers across the globe. Well if you can ship 10m copies of Pokemon Sun and Moon, you can surely ship more NES Classic Editions, can't you guys?
Gotta Buy 'Em All
These numbers make Pokemon Sun & Moon the seventh fastest selling game of all time behind—
- Grand Theft Auto V (sold 12m on first day)
- Diablo III (sold 6.5m in first week)
- Pokémon X and Y (sold 4m in two days)
- Uncharted 4 (sold 2.7m in first week)
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl (sold 2.7m in first week)
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (sold 2.06m in first week)
I wonder what these numbers have in store for Nintendo #Switch's Pokémon title. I mean, if Sun & Moon's release can send 3DS sales skyrocketing from 29,981 pre-'mon to 113,987 post-'mon, you'd better believe Pokémon Stars—as the title has been codenamed—will definitely shift some Switches.
