Disney's first installment in their ambitious new Star Wars plan, The Force Awakens introduced us to two compelling characters that have since become integral to the mythology universe: Rey and Kylo Ren. After giving us plenty of mystery and almost no answers when it came to their history, the film left their respective journeys in a nail-biting, head-scratching cliffhanger.
Since then, audiences have been eager to see what's next for our titular heroine and our conflicted, tantrum-loving villain in The Last Jedi. Being the diehard fans that we are, we look for clues for the next step in their journeys anywhere we can, whether it's toys, video games or even clothing items.
Fortunately for us, that kind of search has — once again — paid off. The Star Wars News Net site released a promotional image for the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront II video game. It features the announcement of Rey and Kylo as pre-order bonuses, but there's more to the image than that. This is actually...
Our First Look At Kylo And Rey's New Outfits In 'The Last Jedi'

The images are quite small, so if you want to pick apart every single detail of their new appearance, here's a closer look:

With Kylo's appearance, the only visible difference is his missing helmet. He fought Rey and Finn at the end of The Force Awakens without it, and that cost him dearly, as he now has a scar running down his face to remind him of his failure...
I'm wondering whether him ditching the helmet is a form of twisted motivation. We saw in TFA how the guy hit his wounds as a form of motivation to keep fighting. So being able to look at his scarred face and torture himself psychologically is probably part of that.
Granted, that's not really anything groundbreaking, but don't worry, because Rey offers us the most intriguing look out of the two.
Rey's outfit is completely different to the one we saw in the trailer (which was the same one she wore in TFA). This outfit was previously teased through a batch of Disney's Force for Change charity material. With the new image, we can say for sure that it's very reminiscent of the classic Jedi attire, especially Luke's new fashion choices.
Given that she's training with Luke, the new garments were most likely simply courtesy of the legendary hero. But it's nonetheless very exciting to know she'll be taking a few more steps toward embracing her Jedi side.
These looks are impressive, and I love the fact that the costumes subtly show us the development of the characters. If you want to find out more about what's next in Rey and Kylo's journey, don't forget to see The Last Jedi when it arrives in theaters on December 15, 2017. Star Wars: Battlefront II comes out on November 17, 2017.
